R

Type R — Pt-13%Rh / Pt Thermocouple

Platinum-13% Rhodium / Pure Platinum. Noble metal thermocouple for high-temperature oxidizing service. Higher Rh content than Type S gives slightly higher EMF at elevated temperatures. Requires alumina ceramic insulation above 1000°C.
